Privacy Policy
WidPlayer has no account, no ads, no analytics, and sends us nothing about what you listen to. Everything it reads stays on your Mac.
Effective October 13, 2026.
1. Who is responsible
Eduardo Valenza, an individual based in Brazil and the developer of WidPlayer (“we”). Contact for any privacy matter: suporte@widplayer.com.
2. What the app reads — and never leaves your Mac
- What’s playing: title, artist, album, artwork, duration, position and which app is playing. WidPlayer reads this from macOS — the same information shown in Now Playing — only to draw the widget. None of it is stored or sent to anyone.
- Commands to players: play, pause, skip, position and volume go straight to the music app, on your Mac. With Apple Music and Spotify this uses macOS Automation, which only works after you allow it.
- Keyboard resume (optional): if you turn it on, the app sends the Space key to Amazon Music or Deezer to resume them. It requires the Accessibility permission, which you grant or deny in System Settings.
- Preferences: widget position, preferred player and options are stored locally.
- Technical logs: operational messages go to macOS’s own log (Console), on your Mac.
3. What leaves your Mac
WidPlayer does not open internet connections on its own. Only two things leave your Mac, both by your action:
- Problem report: “Report a problem…” drafts an email to support with a technical diagnostic — app and macOS versions, processor architecture, language, the folder where the app is installed (which may contain your Mac account name), preferred player and which permissions are granted. The diagnostic does not include what you were listening to. It opens as a draft in your email app and is copied to the clipboard: you see everything and decide whether to send it.
- Links: if a player isn’t installed, the app may open its official website in your browser. From there, that site’s policy applies.
We use no analytics, tracking, advertising or automatic crash reporting.
4. Purchase through the App Store
WidPlayer is sold through the Mac App Store. Payment, receipts, refunds and billing data are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive your name, email or payment details. Apple only shows us aggregate sales figures and, if you allow sharing with developers in macOS settings, anonymous usage statistics and crash reports.
5. Support emails
When you write to support, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply. Messages arrive through Cloudflare email forwarding and are kept in the Google (Gmail) mailbox used for support; replies are sent through the Brevo email service. We delete the conversation on request.
6. This website
widplayer.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It uses no cookies, analytics, third-party fonts or forms. Like any host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
7. Who we share with
No one beyond the services named above — Apple, Cloudflare, Google and Brevo — each only in the role described. We do not sell or rent data.
8. Your rights
Under Brazil’s LGPD, the GDPR and similar laws, you may at any time request access to, correction of or deletion of the data we hold about you — in practice, support messages. Write to suporte@widplayer.com; we reply within 15 days. You may also complain to Brazil’s data protection authority (ANPD) or to the authority in your country.
9. Children
WidPlayer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anyone’s data.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. A change that expands what is collected only applies from the app version that starts collecting it, and is announced in the release notes.
